The Scottish Highland pony is the largest of the pony breeds in the British Isles. It is listed as vulnerable on the endangered species list. It is an intelligent and very versatile breed. It can be used for various disciplines in riding, driving, trekking and general human companionship. It carries that "what can I do for you next?" attitude. It is a very rare breed in North America, with roughly less than 100 on this continent.
Trinityglen breeds the traditional type of Scottish Highland pony, using classic Champion lines. The ponies make excellent childrens mounts for low level hunter/jumpers and dressage. They are brave, bold and have a heart of gold. They love to drive, beit driven Dressage, pleasure or combined driving. They are sure footed, solid and, actually for their size, have a great deal of stamina on the trails.
In the UK, they are used for all facets of equestrian sport; from children's and small/medium adult mounts for all types of English riding, Western and endurance, to packing, driving and even the Queen of England's most preferred mount. The Queen of England owns a large Highland pony stud, Balmoral Stud and she is the Patron of the Highland Pony Society.
My goal is to produce Highlands that are suitable for a variety of levels and disciplines to satisfy the amateur to professional competitor, as well as pleasure rider. I have looked and acquired stock that will excell in dressage, low level three day eventing, childerns and a/o jumpers, pleasure driving, combined driving, as well as breeding stock, and trail riding.
Trinityglen Highland Ponies wants to assist in the preservation and promotion of this amazing animal. We want to educate the equestrian community here in North America about this incredible pony. In attempting to do this, we do demonstrations at Expo's, Celtic Fairs, 4-H clinics and a variety of shows.
