Training

My history with horses and ponies has been vast. In my younger years, I primarily competed in combined training. I was a working student for Bea and Derek DiGrazia for two summers and during school time trained with Dayna Lynd Pugh, who has taken her riders to the top of the eventing field. I rode up through the intermediate level. During that same time, I would restart as well as exercise racehorses that were at the facility that I boarded my three day horse.
After having children and landing in Nevada, I learned the western discipline and based my groundwork fundamentals on trainers like Clinton Anderson and Chris Cox. I started competing in Western classes, from pleasure to western riding through gymkhana where I did quite well.
Thus when I started starting colts, I would combine my knowledge of what I learned from these Western greats with the classical fundamentals of dressage that I learned through my experience working up through the levels of eventing. Needless to say, Circle H Glen Livit has been started by myself, and has never known another rider. We have won numerous championships in English pleasure, the competitive trail and scored well when the few dressage tests that we have done together.
In purchasing my first Highland pony, Bridget of Moonshine Glen, due to not having any local driving trainers at the time, I trained her to drive myself. She and I went on to winning pleasure driving classes at the shows we would attend, as well as doing very well in the obstacle classes. Since training Bridget to drive, I have trained six other ponies and mini's to drive.
Currently, I work with horses and ponies on a case by case basis. I will take in equines for training for competition in western riding, gymkhana, classical dressage, English riding and pleasure driving. As well as, general pleasure riding in the arena, desert and trails.
I will teach them cues from the leg, centered riding and body language. I like to expose them to various obstacles that could be encountered both in competition or in pleasure riding. I will teach them to react in a calm and collected manner rather than reacting in a "flight" mode.
I can prepare your equine for the show ring, as well as coach you and your horse at the show or compete them for you.
Upon completion of training with me, your horse will have a good base to start their career in western, gymkhana, dressage, and English riding.
If you and your horse are not into competition, then you will have a very reliable, stable and responsive partner for those very relaxing or very exhilarating rides.
